Instantly.ai at a glance: what it is and who it's for
Instantly is a cold email platform that lets you connect unlimited email accounts, warm them automatically and launch follow-up sequences at scale. In 2026 its entry plan costs $47 per month. What users value most is deliverability. What they criticize most is support, which only works over chat.
What Instantly is
Instantly was founded in 2021 and in five years has carved out a place among the email prospecting platforms most used by freelancers, agencies and sales teams. Its pitch is simple. You connect as many email accounts as you want, the tool warms them so they don't land in spam, and you launch cold email sequences without losing your mind over configuration.
It's not a CRM or a conventional database, even though today it has both. Its obsession has always been one thing. Getting your emails into the inbox and getting people to reply. Around that, it has kept adding pieces. A lead database with hundreds of millions of contacts, email verification, AI agents that write and reply for you, and even its own sending infrastructure for large accounts.
If you've never touched cold email, my guide on what cold email is will bring you up to speed. And if you want the step-by-step for building your first campaign, I've explained it in how to launch your first cold email campaign with Instantly.
What's included in 2026
Instantly is no longer just a sender. Today it splits into two big blocks.
On one side is email sending, which remains the heart of the product. Unlimited email accounts, unlimited automatic warmup and multichannel sequences that mix email, LinkedIn and webhooks. Plus a unified inbox called Unibox that gathers all replies in one place. And on top of that, an AI layer with a sales agent and a reply agent that draft and answer for you.
On the other side is its B2B database, with over 450 million verified contacts. It goes head to head with Apollo or Lusha. Filter by job title, seniority, company size, industry, location and buying intent signals. And it has a very useful lookalike feature. You give it the domain of a client that already works for you and it pulls out similar companies to reach out to.
For large accounts there's the SISR system, which spreads sending across different servers and IPs to keep reputation high. It's one of the best things it has, but it only shows up in the expensive plans.
How much Instantly costs
Instantly's prices have gone up over the years, and today the bill can hurt more than you expect if you don't read carefully what each plan includes.
| Plan | Monthly price | Emails per month | Contacts | What stands out |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Growth | $47 | 5,000 | 1,000 | Unlimited accounts and warmup |
| Hypergrowth | $97 | 100,000 | 25,000 | Priority chat support |
| Light Speed | $358 | 500,000 | 100,000 | SISR system and owned deliverability |
If you pay annually, prices drop twenty percent. Growth lands around $37 per month, Hypergrowth at $77 and Light Speed at $286.
Then there are the bundles, which combine sending with database credits. Starter costs $94 per month, Scale $194 and Agency $555. Database credits are also sold separately, from around $47 per month.
The important detail. Database credits and email sending are different products. If you only buy credits, you can't launch campaigns. I mention it because it's one of the most repeated mix-ups among users.
What Instantly users say
This is where things get interesting. On Trustpilot there are 1,152 reviews of Instantly, and 398 are from the last year. The official score shows as unavailable because Trustpilot removed a batch of fake reviews. Worth knowing before you let an inflated rating impress you.
The real numbers paint a very polarized split.
| Rating | Share of reviews |
|---|---|
| Five stars | 68 percent |
| Four stars | 4 percent |
| Three stars | Less than 1 percent |
| Two stars | 3 percent |
| One star | 24 percent |
68 percent five-star reviews against 24 percent one-star, with very few people in the middle. That split is very typical of cold email. When deliverability works, you love the tool. When your emails land in spam or support doesn't show up, you hate it.
The positive reviews mostly talk about ease of use. Users who have been with it for five years describe it as the best cold email tool, for how fast it is to connect accounts and get a campaign running. Some also praise support for solving things quickly.
The negative ones cluster in two places. Support, which is chat only, no phone, and leaves you waiting at peak hours. And billing. Several users have run into charges for services they thought were included. A recent case. Someone bought credits thinking they could already send campaigns, and found out email sending requires a separate subscription. The company fixed it within the hour, but the misunderstanding is there and it keeps repeating.
What I like most about Instantly
The automatic warmup is, for me, its best card. Instead of sending test emails between your own accounts, Instantly does it on its own and constantly. That, combined with unlimited accounts, lets you scale sending volume without buying extra plans per inbox. Most of its rivals charge per account or per contact, and here that doesn't happen.
I also like the ease of use. The first campaign is set up in an afternoon, as I explain in my step-by-step tutorial. And the lead finder, if you come from the Apollo world, will feel familiar and cheaper to get started with.
The AI is well integrated. It's not smoke. The reply agent tags and answers for you, and the copilot can build an entire campaign from scratch. You give it a prompt and it proposes leads, copy and sequence. I wouldn't leave it alone without reviewing, but it speeds things up a lot.
What I don't like
Support feels like its weakest point. Chat only, no phone, and queues are noticeable depending on the season. For a tool your pipeline depends on, not being able to call anyone is a real brake. The one-star reviews confirm it.
Billing also needs a rework. Having credits and sending separate is confusing, and surprises on the card statement are a recurring complaint.
Then there's the matter of the fake reviews Trustpilot had to remove. It doesn't affect the product, but it says something about how it's sold. I prefer brands that don't need to inflate their scores.
Finally, remember that deliverability doesn't depend only on the tool. If your domain doesn't have SPF, DKIM and DMARC properly configured, it doesn't matter how good Instantly is. I explain it in my article on how to warm up a domain for cold email.
Instantly vs the alternatives
If you're torn between Instantly and other options, here's my quick summary.
| Tool | Strength | When to choose it |
|---|---|---|
| Instantly | Unlimited accounts and warmup | When you do cold email at scale with several accounts |
| Smartlead | Technical automation | If you need very fine-tuned domain rotation |
| Apollo.io | Database and CRM | If you want data volume and an integrated CRM |
| Waalaxy | LinkedIn automation | If your channel is LinkedIn, not email |
Smartlead is the direct rival and looks a lot like it. Apollo wins on data. And if your thing is prospecting on LinkedIn instead of sending cold emails, then Waalaxy is a better entry point. It has a free plan with 50 invitations per month, and for the Spanish-speaking market it usually performs better than cold email. I go deep into it in my Waalaxy vs Apollo comparison.
Who is Instantly for?
Instantly shines for anyone sending a lot of cold email. Agencies managing dozens of domains, freelancers selling to English-speaking markets and sales teams that want to scale without fighting the configuration.
It's not the best option if you're just starting out and don't even know what cold email is. There you're better off first understanding the channel and warming up a domain properly. Nor if your market is Spain or Latin America and your audience lives on LinkedIn, because cold email responds worse there and Waalaxy gives you more for less.
How Instantly works
The typical flow has four phases.
First, the warm-up. Before sending a single campaign email, you connect your new accounts and add them to the warm-up pool. Instantly makes them take part in constant email exchanges with other accounts in its network, so they build reputation little by little. It's like going to the gym before the race.
Second, you set up the campaign. You create a sequence with as many steps as you want. Email one, wait two days, email two, wait four, email three. Each step can have its own subject line, copy and conditions. If someone replies, the sequence stops for that contact.
Third, you connect your accounts to the campaign. Here's the trick with Instantly. You don't send from a single account, it spreads the sends across all the accounts you've connected. That keeps the volume per account low and the reputation safe. For large volumes, the SISR system also spreads deliveries across different servers and IPs.
Fourth, you manage replies from Unibox. All responses land in one inbox, you tag them, and if you want, the AI agent replies for you with a tone you define. It's a huge time saver when the campaign generates a hundred replies a day.
Getting the most out of it
Three things I learned after many campaigns. First, don't burn your domain. Before going big, set up authentication properly and warm up the accounts for at least two weeks. I explain it step by step in my article on how to warm up a domain. Second, segment your lists. A generic message to a thousand contacts performs worse than a half-personalized message to two hundred that fit your buyer persona. And third, check Unibox daily. Response speed is the difference between closing a deal and letting it go cold.
And if you want to check it out for yourself, you can use the 14-day free trial.
Final verdict
Instantly is, in my opinion, one of the best cold email tools out there. The unlimited accounts and automatic warmup put it ahead of almost everything I've tried, and the lead database has turned it into a complete platform.
But it's not perfect. Chat-only support and confusing billing cost it points, and the one-star reviews aren't a coincidence.
My advice. If you already do cold email and need to scale with several accounts, try Instantly with its Growth plan at $47 and judge for yourself. If you're starting out or your channel is LinkedIn, look at Waalaxy first, which is cheaper to try and safer for not burning your account.
